Integration and Test Lab

WDS provides a test lab for microwave radio back-haul, and multi-point microwave radio communications networks. We have an active RF network to test a variety of technologies and product choices. Products include licensed and unlicensed band radios. Included in our lab are Cisco Catalyst packet switches which support ethernet and ATM protocol.

As a support to Engineering, Integration and Test (I&T) validates the network design concept in simulated, man-made, natural RF and packet router environments. I&T assures the solution developed by engineering meets the transport requirements. Testing includes:

  • Point to Point transport testing up to OC-3 data rates
  • Point to Multipoint testing (end system to basestation)
  • End to End testing (Server to Client)
  • Routing and PVC rules validation
  • NMS element testing

Installation and Commissioning

Low-Emission, Gas-Electric Hybrid Service Vehicle

Use WDS' years of CDPD experience to guarantee that new wireless deployment is efficiently and seamlessly completed.

WDS provides the following services to ease your wireless network installation:

  • Deployment Schedule and Plan Development
  • Provides the Wireless Network Know-How:

    > Define the Network-peculiar configuration
    > Procure and deliver all the radioand network components to suppport the installation schedule
    > Test the installed network prior to activating over the airlink
  • Prepare the procedure to accomplish network acceptance testing
  • Define the "Completion" criteria, which identifies the events and accomplishments that define a completed installation; and sign-off when all installation tasks and testing are complete

Technical Assistance

WDS staffs and maintains a Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for its Customers. The TAC is staffed M-F, from 8:00AM to 5:00PM PST. For all other times, calling the same number gives the information to contact the on-duty Engineer. TAC services include:

  • Phone support for all technical questions regarding system performance and troubleshooting techniques to determine root causes of any problems.
  • Keeping the Customer aware of current software revisions and bug fixes.
  • Regression testing to verify bug fixes.
  • Customer network emulation and anomaly testing.
  • Minor feature enhancements.
Additionally, the following technical services can be purchased from WDS:
  • Field Support
  • Product Training (wireless, packet switch NMS)
  • Investigation of major problems not apparently caused by an inherent problem with the hardware, software, or firmware.

Operations Management

WDS provides Operations Management support through a VPN connection into the Customer's network. This connection is secure, requiring user name and password access. Additional levels of security can be added by assigning dedicated ports and restricting IP address attachments.

WDS utilizes Enterprise Manager running SNMP for its NMS. Any equipment that has a valid MIB and an SNMP agent attached can be included as an element to manage. The NMS is customized to the customer network. The network is arranged logically in the NMS, in a hierarchy or connection mode orientation. The NMS is capable of alerting the WDS operator of any alarm condition, and delivers valuable performance statistics.
